Rescue the Roots: Save Grassroots Youth Music Projects

In 2025, we launched Rescue the Roots, our urgent fundraising campaign to tackle the funding crisis facing grassroots youth music organisations across the UK. 

Thanks to people like you, we raised £1 million and matched it. That’s £2 million for grassroots youth music projects, supporting an estimated 18,000 young people so far.  

Rescue the Roots has united the music industry and beyond - with support from Spotify, Apple, Sony Music, Beatport, PPL and Wingstop, plus artists like Sam Fender, Jorja Smith, Bicep and Bastille, and fans across the UK. 

But it’s not enough. 

Our 2026 survey reveals a growing crisis: 

37% of projects are considering closure due to financial pressure  

Over two-thirds report significant unmet demand  

Nearly 40% expect their financial situation to worsen within a year  

33,500 young people are currently on waiting lists
