Blackhorse Workshop (BHW) has been commissioned by London Borough of Waltham Forest to deliver Blackhorse Creates, a new cultural event celebrating the designers, creatives, makers and manufacturers of the Blackhorse Collective, based around the Blackhorse Lane Creative Enterprise Zone. This will be a weekend of public engagement promoted locally as well as through Open House Weekend and London Design Festival.

Through Open Studios, an exhibition, free craft demos, free family making activities and an afternoon programme of live music, we hope to attract local residents including families and people who might not otherwise engage with London Design Festival events.

In programming the event we will prioritise creating paid opportunities for residents and in particular young musical talent. The event will take place on Saturday 19 September between 12pm and 5pm.

This is a paid opportunity for 4 solo artists and 2 DJs. Priority will be given to artists who are based in the borough of Waltham Forest, but other applications are nonetheless encouraged. Applicants must be over the age of 18.

Similarly, music should be family friendly and appropriate for all ages, as the event is designed for all local residents, with a preference for genres including R&B, soul, dub and world sounds - but we are nonetheless looking for musical diversity in the lineup, and as such all applications will be considered regardless of genre.

Applications will close on 4 August 2026, but slots will be filled as and when we receive suitable applications, so we recommend applying as soon as possible.
