Meet the NextGen Fund Round 13 Recipients

Announcing the recipients of the thirteenth round of the Youth Music NextGen Fund: 43 young creatives bringing their ideas to life with a grant of up to £3,000.

Round 12 of the Youth Music NextGen Fund has been made possible thanks to the Players of People’s Postcode Lottery, and support from Amazon and PPL (Phonographic Performance Limited).

Meet the NextGen Fund Round 13 Recipients

Announcing the recipients of the thirteenth round of the Youth Music NextGen Fund: 43 young creatives bringing their ideas to life with a grant of up to £3,000.

AISHA

South West

 

AISHA is 19-year-old singer-songwriter from North Devon, blending soul, R&B and pop through powerful, emotive vocals.

 

She will develop and release a five-track EP showcasing a clear artistic identity, supported by strong social media content for promotion to grow audiences, build momentum, and establish a compelling brand.

Scotland

 

Arwen Scott is a singer-songwriter from Aberdeenshire in Scotland who, through folk melodies and the Scots language, takes you on a journey through the lands of their home and explore some of the contemporary issues facing young people today.

 

Their project will be the recording and production of an album of Scots language songs and folk music written over the course of the last two years.

Brook Fox

Wales

 

Brook Fox is a singer-songwriter and BBC Radio Wales A-Lister, hailing from the small town of Burry Port in Wales. Drawing inspiration from his personal experiences, his music combines down to earth lyrics with indie pop/rock influences, offering a fresh and authentic soundscape.

 

Their project will consist of recording, mixing and mastering my second EP at Sonic One Studios.

Catherine Bullock

North West

 

Catherine Bullock writes physics inspired folk-rock, reflecting on queer identity, relationships, and self doubt. Catherine blends astrophysical imagery, choral inspired harmony, and dissonant open tuning, into something both celestial and grounded.

 

Their project will be a debut 4-track Folk-Rock EP, exploring the beauties and struggles of being queer and gender diverse, moving across the world, and the journey of self confidence told through the lens of physics concepts.

Chea Mc Ardle

Northern Ireland

 

Chea is a Music Photographer, based in Belfast. They use their creative drive to explore the vibrant music scene within Belfast, and to shine a spotlight towards local artists. 

 

Their project will spotlight Belfast's overlooked local Musicians, exploring their outward personas versus the inner workings of their artistry. An exploration into their ability to express their creative selves facilitated via, high quality studio photoshoots, bts shoots and interviews; culminating in a zine with aim to exhibit within Belfast.

CHY is a 25 year old, music fanatic and diverse DJ, whilst pursuing a career in mental health. Music has been a tool of self expression and helped them find community. CHY hopes by achieving their goals, they will be able to give back to this community.

 

They will be working on A 4-track EP named MADEINTHERAVE in the next year. Not just about the music but a place of freedom and expression and community. Being unapologetically authentic and thriving in an environment that’s liberating. Pushing diversity and staying true to our roots.

CLAMP

Wales

 

Dion is a Llanrug-based musician and promoter, creating community-focused live music events and mentoring emerging artists. Passionate about grassroots scenes, songwriting, and inclusive gigs.

 

CLAMP is a new Caernarfon-based gig promotion project curating 3–4 small, high-quality shows a year. It will platform emerging Welsh bands who are too niche for bigger stages but can fill 100-cap rooms, rebuilding a local live scene and giving younger audiences and artists a vital space to connect.

Hailing from Croydon, Dia Day fuses South London’s rap & hip-hop influences with neo-soul & jazz elements. This, with flavours from her Polish heritage makes for a gritty and raw cross-genre sound. Dia's debut album “Letters to L” is set to drop later this year.

 

She will create a 12-track album exploring loneliness across her life, told through vivid storytelling. It fuses UK rap, neo-soul and jazz, with live instrumentation and stacked choir vocals from the FLAMES collective.

Ding Frisby

Yorkshire and The Humber

 

Ding Frisby is an intergalactic, guitar-wielding drag-thing writing songs for queer aliens everywhere. 

 

Ding Frisby on Disc will enable the recording and special edition release of intergalactic drag thing Ding Frisby’s debut EP, ‘Ding Frisby’. This cosmic, cabaret-inspired concept collection tells an origin story of growing up alien on Earth, or more precisely, growing up queer in Huddersfield.

North East

 

Drawing from her hymn-heavy childhood and classical roots, Eddie Doyle is an exciting new voice in experimental rock. Blending electronica, ambient and her self described 'post-Catholic post-rock'.

 

'Don't Look' is a confrontationally vulnerable anthem of self-revolution, rooted in post-rock and art-pop. It's accompanying music video, strange and unnatural, yet deeply human, brings the creative vision of 'Eddie Doyle' to life. This funding seeks to record, film and promote the single and its genre-defiant music video.

Elina Lee

Wales

 

Elina Lee is an Indie-pop Alt-R&B artist based in the Cardiff. Born in Thailand and raised in Stockholm, Sweden, her music is shaped by her multicultural upbringing and the pulse of big-city soundscapes.

 

The NextGen funding will support the recording, production, and release of her debut EP. She will also use the funding to buy a synthesiser, allowing her to recreate the atmosphere of the recorded songs into an authentic, cityscape-inspired live set.

Emmanuella, aka EMSKI: is a DJ and producer from SE London. Their beats blend underground club culture with global electronic sounds.

 

She will produce 2–3 singles, develop a live Ableton Push performance, deliver 2 workshops for care leavers, and host an EP launch, turning music into a platform for creativity, skills, and confidence.

Eve Buckley

Yorkshire and The Humber

 

Leeds-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist Eve Buckley combines a rich hybrid of Alternative Soul, Jazz, and Pop. Her debut EP ‘Some Kind of Solace was released last February.

 

Her project involves creating her sophomore EP, a 5-track exploration that maintains her jazz, soul, and pop foundations but expands to more alternative and experimental territory.

FREDDY FORBIDDEN is an alternative solo artist from East London. FREDDY’s journey in music began after a life-changing incident in 2018 when he was robbed, run over, and left for dead. A second chance at life.

 

The aim of BREACH is to introduce the world to Freddy Forbidden and 'Afrocore'. It's a surge of ancestral African energy, offering listeners the opportunity to restore their power.

Gage is an aspiring music event organiser passionate about youth culture and community building. Their goal is to create inclusive spaces that empower the next generation of producers.

 

They will create a youth-led music networking project hosting outdoor, nature-based events that combine open DJ sets and open mic nights.

Grace Bower is a presenter from Rotherham, Yorkshire. She’s spent the past 3 years reimagining her hometown as the world’s first Children’s Capital of Culture. 

 

NOWT FANCY is an innovative YouTube interview series that platforms musicians from South Yorkshire, being interviewed by Grace.

Heroic Dragon is an 18-year-old Asian-British independent rapper, with authentic lyrics about motivation and being young on grime/uk rap instrumentals.

 

This project will involve the creation of a 3-track EP, with music content shared across all platforms. Never Broke Again is a project about the conflicting struggle to make your passion into profit and the overwhelming loneliness of the journey.

Isaac Neilson delivers gritty storytelling through the lens of a working class artist from The Midlands.
 

His project will be the creation of an EP, channelling the momentum he is generating now into a substantial release.

Jack Garrity is a genre-blending musician based in the North East. The NextGen Fund will allow him to create his debut EP which explores the concept of expression without language, and features lyrical themes of alienation and absurdism.

 

Glossolalia is a Debut EP project based around non-verbal musical expression, communicating his perspective as a neurodivergent person exploring the absurd.

Jakey Harrison makes intimate indie-folk music rooted in storytelling and live performance. Raised in Cornwall and now based in London, he’s earned BBC Introducing support, 60,000+ streams and a growing online following. 

 

The project is to record a debut EP. Funding will also support studio time, mixing and promotional costs, followed by a small tour of shows.

Jeremy M

Yorkshire and The Humber

 

Jeremy M is a 23-year-old singer and songwriter from York, writing acoustic indie pop songs about mental health, sexuality, religion and chronic illness.

 

"Time To Let Go!" is their second EP, a 5-track project about their experience trying to let go of my childhood trauma.

Jonah Banks

South East

 

Jonah Banks is a 19-year-old autistic music producer specialising in electronic music. He has been immersed in making music since the age of 13, and there is nothing he would rather spend his time doing. His neurodivergent way of thinking allows him to develop ideas for songs in minutes.


The funding will go towards production, mixing and organisational mentoring support to develop a professional quality album alongside developing the skills and confidence to create and perform a live set.

Kai Wei is a Chinese Malaysian Hip-Hop artist who grew up in Manchester. 

 

The funding will support his debut EP OMEGAH WEI: a six-track alternative boom bap project blending English and Cantonese, created with producer Omegah Red.

LAMAYA is a Scotland-based Afro Pop artist shaped by Nigerian heritage, Spanish culture and the UK underground. She blends her truth with a bilingual flair. 

 

LAMAYA will use the funding to put out an EP.

Drawing inspiration from iconic storytellers, Lydia crafts tear-inducing ballads alongside euphoric dance floor moments exploring queer identity and the pitfalls of heartbreak.

 

Lydia's debut EP will consist of 5 songs connected by the overarching feeling of needing to listen to their gut instinct.

Madams Last Discovery

Northern Ireland

 

Madams Last Discovery, or Madams, as their fans have nicknamed them, is a psych-induced post-punk project from Belfast. 

 

They want to create an EP for their musical project Madams Last Discovery. They will release 2 singles and the full 4 track EP between September 2026 and February 2027.

Mar!k makes music for people who want to live outside the box. Blurring soul, electronic, hip-hop, reggae and rock, his music is driven by groove-heavy basslines, vivid textures, and fearless experimentation.

 

He will use the funding to create a  5–6 track collaborative EP telling the story of finding identity in a chaotic world that pushes conformity.

Meera Chumber is an independent singer-songwriter and producer creating emotive, layered R&B and alt-soul. 

 

The funding will be used to create The Woman He Used To Call Mine, a continued project from her debut album. It unpacks themes of vulnerability, feminism and social constructs.

Mercy Sotire

South West

 

Mercy’s Cartel is a multidisciplinary artist, producer, and engineer creating genre-fluid music rooted in alternative R&B and hip hop. 

 

The grant will fund the release of three singles that reintroduce their work as an artist, producer, and engineer. The project blends genre-fluid songwriting with performance-led visuals.

MFLC is a 22 year old musician and youth worker from Brighton. 

 

The fund will help create a ten track debut album written between 2020 and 2025. Exploring themes of Suicide, gender, hope, love, friendship and heartbreak.

Milvain is a singer-songwriter from Suffolk. Influenced by her background in classical singing and literature, her music blends alt and chamber folk to create an earthy and ethereal sound. 

 

She will create and release her debut EP, expanding on the acoustic roots of her released singles. Amethyst is my five-track debut EP, blending traditional and alternative folk sensibilities with chamber-folk textures.

Miss Nakia is an independent Afro & Alternative R&B artist exploring emotional honesty, intimacy, and self-reflection through music. 

 

This project will focus on what happens after release, using two recent singles as a starting point to develop audience connection, live presence, and sustainable momentum beyond my existing network.

Newcastle based, Nevata is a DJ/ producer creating immersive, high energy tracks. 

 

The project, Digital Child, explores ADHD as a creative force rather than something to fix. Drawing on memories of overstimulation and online upbringing, it reframes restlessness as rhythm and distraction as inspiration.

okcandice / sonic seamstress is an artist-curator and musician. They are the director of Bedtime Stories studio and radio host for Refuge Worldwide. Their practice is concerned with methodologies of grief, Black audio-visual archives and uses of the sonic in civic space.

 

Pam Dawta is the debut EP from artist and musician okcandice. It charts okcandice’s grieving process following the sudden death of their mother through electronica and Afro-Latin fusion.

The funding will create a podcast and short-form content project led by Patrick Wilde The project focuses on platform-building, skills development, and challenging ableism in the music industry through honest conversation.

Girls of Pop is an independent scrapbook style zine that celebrates women in the music industry. The goal of this project is to create and publish issue 4, start offering an artist merchandise service and establish Girls of Pop as a business.

Tyler Zwink is an American composer living in Glasgow, Scotland. 

 

Tyler has recently completed a studio recording of his opera designed for accessibility, "The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood". With the NextGen Fund he will expand the project and record Act 2.

The album will be about a human experience through love. It’s about how we all connect in simple ways whether that’s through feelings, experiences, seasons or memories.

2026 marks the 'People’s Assembly' launch. This project transcends the rave, merging high-energy production with a focus on mental health, social connection, and bridging the gap between artists and community.

Zakariah.

West Midlands

 

Zakariah is a Birmingham-based melodic rap artist who blends rap, jazz, and R&B influences. 

 

Zakariah’s next project is a 4–6 track EP with an innovative rollout, led by a salesman alter ego in parody adverts selling ‘love solutions.’ The campaign combines music, comedy, and storytelling to build a distinctive and authentic brand.

She will produce a 3 track EP release by ZELA and succesfully market and promote new music to my fanbase.

ZMARAK is a self-taught audiovisual artist & DJ specialising in analogue video, DIY street mischief & grassroots event curation. 

 

They will produce a 30 minute hybrid DJ composition performed in an urban football court, tributing South Asian discographies, 2000s CLUBLAND vocals, 4X4 bassline, metal and emo guitar riffs to create a sonic diary of a ghost who grew too fast.
