Investing in grassroots electronic music

We are excited to announce our new partnership with Beatport that will champion the next generation of electronic music makers.

Together, we’re investing £60,000 in grassroots electronic music projects, with four organisations each receiving £15,000. The funding will help young DJs and producers, especially those from underserved communities, have access to the resources, mentorship, and opportunities they need to thrive in music.

Young people from underrepresented backgrounds are uniquely creative because they’ve had to be. Their potential is increasingly blocked by the current funding crisis in grassroots music, limiting access and opportunities.

Our partnership with Beatport will help address this, by providing more grassroots organisations with the funding and support needed to empower a more diverse and creative electronic music scene.

Beatport: Beyond Funding

As well as funding, Beatport will provide editorial and marketing support to help these organisations grow their reach and impact.

The partnership represents the next step in Beatport's Diversity + Parity Fund, which has been channelling investment into organisations that champion underrepresented voices in the global music industry.

"Electronic music has always been about community, creativity, and breaking down barriers. By partnering with Youth Music, we're not only investing in the future of the scene, but also making sure that young people, no matter where they come from, have a fair chance to be seen and heard."

By investing in grassroots electronic music, Beatport and Youth Music are helping ensure that tomorrow’s DJs, producers and innovators can create, connect and shape the future of global music culture.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in applications

We know that organisations use AI to help with their funding applications. However, if you do use AI to help you draft your application, please make sure it’s an honest reflection of your work and plans.

We often find AI answers don’t tell us enough about your actual practices, and this can have a negative impact on your assessment.

Addressing a Funding Crisis

This partnership builds on our Rescue the Roots campaign, launched earlier this year to tackle the growing funding crisis in grassroots youth music.

Two in five (41%) youth music projects are now at risk of closure, a 17% increase from 2024. Rescue the Roots will match every pound raised up to £1 million to keep vital projects open and support young creatives across the country.
