AFFIEJAM

AFFIEJAM is a multi-disciplinary artist from Birmingham, known as a songwriter, musician, illustrator and DJ. In 2024, after breaking her hand, she self-produced her debut mixtape 'MAKES + BREAKS' with an accompanying mixed-media zine. Now, AFFIEJAM will create a self produced EP called 'WORKSHOPPING LIFE', where one track is released as a single first. Accompanying visuals in the form of an interactive digital (and limited print) zine, listening party and a concept music video. The title reflects how "we cannot do life alone."

Risky

Risky is an artist from Warwickshire. The music video for his song 'Too Many' was shortlisted for the Music Video Award at the Youth Music Awards 2022, and expresses his emotions about street life, the dangers of knife crime, and the impact of violence on young people. He has also performed at Godiva Festival, and has received radio support from BBC Coventry & Warwickshire. The NextGen Fund funded his album 'Overlooked'.

Ije is an events professional based in Wolverhampton. She is the founder of MdoubleOD Entertainment, and with her NextGen Fund, organised a live jam session with local bands and artists. She posted content from the event to MdoubleOD's platforms, as part of the weekly videos she makes for artist discovery.

Darshae

Darshae is a singer from Birmingham. She has performed at Simmer Down Festival, MADE Festival, and supported Bobby Valentino on his UK tour. She has also received support from BBC 1Xtra, and has been a MOBO UnSung finalist.

shandanan is a singer, songwriter and producer from Birmingham. Her music has received support from BBC 1Xtra, Girl Grind UK and Punch Records, and she was selected by Mahalia to feature in her Mahalia Presents event series, sponsored by Dr. Martens.

Sunny Side Down

Sunny Side Down is an indie, rock and alternative singer-songwriter. The NextGen Fund is supporting them to create and release their third album, which will be an emotional picture of them and the people around them over the last three years. With their music, they aim to capture the intensity and sweetness of learning to be a person.

miamusa

miamusa is a singer-songwriter and producer from Birmingham. She has written music for over 10 years, and since then, has received radio play on NTS, BBC Introducing, Worldwide FM and No Signal. She was also selected to partake in an Ableton Production Course with CUBE and Emmavie, as well as in the Beautiful Academy with AIAIAI, learning from the likes of Mura Masa and PinkPantheress. She has also taken part in a Sound Engineering Camp with CUBE, and performed live at venues including the Pickle Factory, Matchstick Piehouse and state51.

Reuben Cottrell

Reuben Cottrell

Reuben Cottrell is the founder of Fyah Kamp, an online music platform that spotlights young musical talent in Coventry, particularly in the genre of rap. Fyah Kamp has organised 'Block Radio, Coventry's first underground rap show, organised a performance of 30 Coventry artists at CVX festival, and provided young people with opportunities to perform on the Youth Stage of Godiva Festival. They have also collaborated with Punch Records, Birmingham Hippodrome and DJ Biggoss on a Bar4Bar Cypher event, as well as arranging 'Inspire The Fyah', which brought together over 10 organisations in Coventry to inspire young people to commence their journey in the industry through live performances and panel discussions.

Okeam Briscoe

Okeam Briscoe

Okeam Briscoe is a Birmingham-born singer/songwriter who creates R&B and soul music. Okeam has appeared on Jason Derulo's BBC Three show, 'Project Icon', and has performed at renowned venues such as KOKO London. He aims to inspire men with mental health challenges with his 'BOYSCRYTOO.' EP project, which the NextGen Fund is supporting him to record and release.

Cralla

Cralla

Cralla is a rapper and songwriter from Wolverhampton. With the NextGen Fund, he was able to release his EP 'Royal Infirmary', which was a collection of songs about his experience of hospital following a serious crash. Writing the EP provided Cralla with an outlet for expression during the challenging process of recovery.
