Take Art is seeking to engage one or two freelance musicians or singer-songwriters to deliver two Sing Our Story projects in the South West of England.

Sing Our Story is a long-running programme developed by Groundswell Arts, now being piloted in the rural South West in partnership with Take Art. One project will focus on early years children (funded by Youth Music), and the other on care-experienced children (funded by the Rayne Foundation).

This is a unique opportunity to use your music-making skills in a therapeutic, creative, and family-focused context.

The work involves: Collaborating with parents and carers to compose personalised songs for and about their children. Leading engaging music-making activities for families, young children, and early years practitioners/teachers. Sharing practical pedagogy to support parents in making music at home. Musicians will be fully supported with training, mentoring, and reflection sessions led by Groundswell Arts and Take Art to ensure high-quality delivery and professional development.

We are looking for musicians who are skilled performers, with experience in songwriting and creative collaboration. Sensitive, empathetic, and able to work in therapeutic, family-based settings. Confident in working with young children, families, and carers. Open to reflective practice and ongoing professional development.

Fees: Youth Music early years project - £2,575 total.

Rayne Foundation care experienced children - £1,575 total.
