World's Top Musicians and Artists Support Youth Music

Photographer Rankin and Youth Music unveil major art project,'Destroy'

Renowned photographer Rankin and the world's top musicians and artists have supported us by donating their precious time, energy and creative spirit for a major art project entitled 'Destroy'.

To help celebrate our 10th Birthday, more than 70 musicians and visual artists have created a groundbreaking body of collaborative artwork based on Rankin’s iconic portraits of musicians.

Artists such as Jarvis Cocker, U2, Debbie Harry, Little Boots, Kylie and visual artists including Damien Hirst have 'destroyed' a Rankin print of themselves or a musical hero and turned the image into an original piece of art. Those involved were given the freedom to manipulate their images in any way they wished, with the one-off originals being returned for photographing and preservation.

As part of Youth Music Week 2009 (7-14 November), we'll be taking over Phillips De Pury Gallery and Auction House, London for a festival of art and live music featuring performances and DJ sets from Destroy artists, culminating with an auction of the artwork:

9 November - Destroy Private View with performances from Josh Weller, Micachu, Patrick Wolf and Youth Music ambassador Mica.

12 & 13 November - Exclusive Destroy gigs by Little Boots and The Enemy

14 November - Charity Auction hosted by Simon De Pury and Rankin - by invitation only.

Exhibition open daily:
9th – 21st November
10am – 6pm
