UK's Largest Music Education Conference Hailed a Success
MusicLeader North West hosts Youth Music and FMS funded conference
On Friday, 4th September 2009, delegates from 19 North West Music Services gathered at the Hilton, Blackpool for the biggest music education conference of the year.
The INSET Conference named 'Ideas, Inspiration and Tasters' featured 2 outstanding keynotes (David Price OBE and Sir John Jones), 10 taster workshops and a Recorder Magic session for all 420 delegates, sponsored by Yamaha.
Funded by Youth Music and the Federation of Music Services, and hosted by MusicLeader North West, the aim of the conference was to supply staff with ideas and inspiration, whilst allowing them to dip into something new via 2 of 10 taster workshops. At the same time, the Heads of Service wanted a dynamic and enjoyable way to launch their staff into the academic year.
Tina Redford, Head of MusicLeader North West told us, “Feedback from this year’s event suggests that the conference aim was achieved with delegates overwhelmingly expressing how helpful and inspiring they found the workshops and keynote speakers.”
Jean Tremarco, of Liverpool Music Service said “I’m totally inspired by all I heard and ready to go out and hopefully make a difference”, whilst Beth Bishop, of Manchester Music Service added “Today reminded me why I do the job…"
John Witchell, Head of the FMS was thrilled with the success of the event claiming that it demonstrated how MusicLeader can and should contribute to the professional development of the music service workforce.
Further information on the INSET conference can be obtained from Tina Redford, Director of MusicLeader North West.
