Requiem: The Derek Kitt Memorial Concert

Requiem: The Derek Kitt Memorial Concert

In commemoration and celebration of his work as Cornwall's County Music Advisor, Chair of NAME and Cornish Bard

Derek Kitt died suddenly in late November last year and is greatly missed in his beloved home county and across the nation. Requiem is a Memorial Concert taking place at the Hall for Cornwall in Truro in early October, in commemoration and celebration of his work as Cornwall’s County Music Advisor, Chair of NAME and Cornish Bard.

Derek was a much-loved figure whose work in music for more than 35 years hugely enriched people's lives. His enthusiasm, energy and passion for his medium inspired so many people of all ages to follow or to begin their own musical journeys. This very special concert acknowledges that passion and the impact it has had on so many.

All proceeds from this event will go to the Derek Kitt Memorial Fund, recently established to support young musicians in Cornwall in line with Derek's beliefs and aspirations for young people through music. We sincerely hope you can join us, and help support such a heartfelt cause at the same time.

In the same spirit in which Derek brought people and organisations together through a shared sense of creative endeavour, this particular event has also been developed, in collaboration with his widow Rosemarie, by Creative Partnerships, Cornwall Music Service, Youth Music, Plymouth Music Zone and Cornwall Youth Music Action Zone, and includes major contributions from Schools across the region.

The concert is being held at the Hall for Cornwall on October 8, at 7pm.
Tickets £10 / £5 for under 16s
Box office: 01872 262 466

The evening also forms part of Listen Up! 2006, a collaboration between Creative Partnerships, BBC Radio 3, the Association of British Orchestras and Making Music www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/listenup/
