Plymouth YMAZ is Big Lottery winner!

£50,000 for Plymouth Music Zone's multi-sensory music project for disabled children

Plymouth Music Zone, has secured £50,000 of Big Lottery funding to create the city’s only multi-sensory music project for disabled children’.

The Plymouth YMAZ’s idea to build a ‘Sensation Music Station’ was one of only eight bids selected to be in with a chance of winning over £50,000 on ITV Westcountry’s People's Millions vote. The winner was decided by a public vote on November 15.

An excited PMZ Project Director, Ben Ballard commented: “Everyone could benefit because that kind of special sound and light equipment wouldn’t just help children with sensory impairments to develop through music, it would also help the elderly and the very young and their parents to explore it too.”

Plymouth Music Zone believes the Sensation Music Station could help it become a Centre of Excellence in the region by putting special needs music education on the map.
