Peace One Day - One Song

A search for original compositions from young bands, choirs and music collectives

Youth Music and Royal Albert Hall Education are supporting an exciting Peace One Day music initiative for young people, 'Peace One Day - One Song' (PODOS).

Peace One Day is looking for young groups (bands, choirs or any kind of music collective in the UK) whose performing members are all aged 11- 18. Groups must come up with an original composition using 'Peace One Day' as its inspiration. POD is asking for video performances of original songs.

10 shortlisted groups will be asked to perform at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 10 September 2007 in front of a panel of music industry experts. One group will be chosen (and mentored) to perform their song alongside Annie Lennox and a host of international artists on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall at Peace One Day's flagship event on Peace Day, Friday September 21, 2007.

All performers in the 10 short listed groups will receive Peace One Day, Youth Music and Royal Albert Hall giveaways. The winning group will receive a 24-inch iMac and each member of the winning group will receive 10 free iTunes downloads.

The deadline for entries is Friday June 22, so not long! More information, Guidelines, Rules and printable Entry Form can be found at www.peaceoneday.org/page/education.

Peace One Day began in September 1999 as the vision of one man, British Filmmaker Jeremy Gilley. He set out to document the creation of the first ever day of global ceasefire and non-violence. In September 2001 Jeremy achieved his primary objective with the unanimous adoption by UN member states of the first ever day of global ceasefire and non-violence, fixed in the calendar as 21 September annually – Peace Dayy.
