Youth Music sponsored Clore Fellow Susanna Eastburn has been appointed Director of Music Strategy at Arts Council England.

Susanna is currently Executive Producer of Lift (London International Festival of Theatre) where she has been since 2005.  Her previous roles include Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Chair of the Society for the Promotion of New Music and a Governor of Leeds College of Music.

On her appointment Susanna  said “I am very excited about joining the Arts Council at this time of great possibility and development. Music in this country is in great shape and is one of the jewels of our cultural life. I look forward to strengthening links between the Arts Council, the music industry and musicians to enable as many people as possible to experience music of the highest quality.”

Susanna will take up her role in March 2008 and will be based at Arts Council England’s national office in London. She will lead the Arts Council’s teams of music specialists based across England.
