Music for Early Ears - celebrating the impact of music in the early years sector
Make Some Noise announces a day long event to celebrate the impact of music in early years in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire
From October 25 to November 1, 2006, Youth Music Action Zones will be holding special events and activities across England and Wales, giving you the opportunity to find out more about the impact of their work in providing innovative music provision for children, young people and their communities.
On Thursday October 26, Make Some Noise, the Youth Music Action Zone for Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire will be co-ordinating, Early Ears, a day long event to celebrate the impact of music in early years, at Yarnfield Training and Conference Centre in Stone.
During the morning, Make Some Noise will provide early years' managers and advisers along with staff from the Sure Start Children’s Centres the opportunity to discover first hand, how musical games and songs have helped children develop social, numeracy and language skills.
“This fun practical music workshop will use some of the ideas shared during our variety of workshops, courses and activities we have been providing, free of charge, to early years practitioners, carers, childminders and parent for over three years”, says Tim Sharp, Make Some Noise Assistant Director.
“After lunch, everybody from the workshop will join representatives from Library, Early Years and Childcare, Cultural Development and Music and Performing Arts Services in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire, for a presentation by our experienced early years' musicians, setting managers and practitioners discussing the importance and benefits of using music with young children.”
Make Some Noise is one of 24 Youth Music Action Zones in England and Wales; it provides activities across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent for children and young people with little access to music making.
