Make Some Noise launches the 'Sound Check' project in Staffordshire
Encouraging 13-19 year olds to get involved in music making
'Sound Check', is a new music project developed by Make Some Noise - the Youth Music Action Zone for Staffordshire and Stoke. Sound Check encourages youngsters from 13 - 19 to get involved in making music, and provides the tools to make this happen.
Local county council member Gwilym Roberts said: "Sound Check is an excellent opportunity for young people get involved with music. By making instruments and equipment accessible, it means that anyone can have a go and find their hidden talent."
Tim Sharp, Assistant Director for Make Some Noise, said: "We are hoping to have Sound Check up and running at the Burnthill Lane Youth Club every Tuesday evening until December, so the Charter Fair will be a great opportunity for our community musicians to show young people how easy it can be to pick up an instrument and start playing in a band. This project is a great chance for either someone that already plays an instrument and would like to be in a band or has always wanted to play the drums for example and hasn't been able to yet.".
Sound Check workshop is FREE & runs every Tuesday evening from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. The first workshop is on Tuesday 10 June, 2008. Places are limited so make sure you call the Burnthill Lane, Rugeley Youth Club on 01889 256180 to put your name down.
