Howard Goodall wins Classical Brit Award
Former Youth Music trustee picks up Composer of the Year Award
Former Youth Music trustee, Howard Goodall has won the award for Composer of the Year 2009 at the Classical Brits awards ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall, London. Howard won the award for his 'Eternal Light: A Requiem for the Living,' .
Commissioned by Mark Stephenson on behalf of London Musici to celebrate the orchestra’s 20th anniversary, 'Eternal Light: A Requiem' is a stand-alone choral work that had its London premiere in November 2008 in an exciting collaborative version for choir, soloists, orchestra and dance.
In addition to being a former Trustee to Youth Music, Howard is perhaps best known as the composer of various popular TV themes such as Blackadder, Red Dwarf and The Vicar of Dibley and is also a prodigious writer of choral music.
A big 'Congratulations' to Howard from Youth Music!
