Help kids find their voice
SoundLINCS offer free vocal training to those working with children
As part of the Music Manifesto’s Sing Up National Singing Programme, vocal training is being offered free of charge throughout Lincolnshire to any adult who works with children.
Lincolnshire Music Development Agency soundLINCS in its role as Area Leader for Sing Up, are hosting a series of free practical training workshops. The workshops are being run in partnership with Lincolnshire Music Service in schools, arts centres and community venues around the Lincolnshire.
The training comprises a series of practical and topic-specific workshops in schools, arts centres and community venues around the county. ‘All the sessions will be fun, friendly and informative, and run by our own team of experienced music facilitators,’ explains soundLINCS Programme Development Officer Louise Salmond Smith.
‘The workshops really will be suitable for anyone, whether people with little experience of group singing, or those who want to develop their existing vocal skills, so in addition to teachers and classroom assistants, we’re expecting to welcome pre-school staff and playground supervisors, arts facilitators, childminders and youth workers, including leaders of community groups like Scouts, Guides and Brownies.’
A comprehensive schedule of 85 sessions over the coming academic year has been drawn up, with both weekend and after-school sessions to be staged in all seven Lincolnshire districts. Topics to be covered include ‘How to teach a song’, ‘Traditional British folk’, ‘Playground songs and games’ and ‘Motivational songs’. The twilight sessions will also offer a ‘Sing Up Surgery’ in order to address queries relating to other aspects of the national Sing Up programme.
