Calling all 14-18 year old bands, artists, MCs and DJs

Youth Music hosts it's very own stage at the Underage festival and is searching for talent to add to the line up

2009 is Youth Music's tenth birthday and as part of the birthday festivities, we are celebrating the power of music to improve the lives of young people with our very own ‘Music Is Power’ stage at the Underage Festival – the world’s largest and best loved festival strictly for under 19s.

Now all we need is some talent to put on the line up so we are running an exciting competition.   To enter; musicians need to upload their video or audio demos and tell us how they would use the power of music to make a difference in their area.  Entrants and registered users will be able watch, comment on and rate all entries.

Young musicians in any genre can sign up on the interactive microsite www.youthmusic.org.uk/underage and the four best acts will be selected to play alongside established artists such as Ladyhawke, Tommy Sparks, Kissy Sellout and many more, in what is already promising to be the best ever festival exclusively for young people. The young artists will get to hang out backstage with the pro bands and participate in a festival film for the Youth Music website.

The deadline for submissions is June 15 2009 after which, the demos will be judged and short-listed acts will be invited to attend one of three regional auditions (London, Bristol and Manchester). The judging panel will consist of high profile industry experts from the BBC and NME.
