Bristol Braced for Box

The Youth Music Box continues its nationwide tour re-opening at Bristol's Colston Hall on 2 October.

After an electrifying 6 week stint at the Southbank Centre London, the Youth Music Box is re-opening at Bristol’s Colston Hall which has just undergone a massive £20million foyer development.

Youth Music Box is a FREE interactive music experience enabling people of any age to create their own music track and video using cutting-edge technology: all in under 10 minutes.

It's hoped Youth Music Box will encourage more young Bristolians to take up music making, as recent research commissioned by Youth Music found that up to 2.5 million young people in the UK – or 1 million aged between 12 and 18 – have been inspired to progress into “real” music-making because they have played music-based console games.

The Box (which is open at Colston Hall, Bristol from Friday 2 October to 18 October) has been developed by music and graphics experts Silent Studios and interactive artist Chris O’Shea. It's a state of the art, cubed structure that visitors can enter, providing an easily accessible musical experience through a mix of real instruments and a “walk-up and play” technology.

Working in partnership with Remix (The Bristol Youth Music Action Zone) we've also put together a special package for schools and youth groups comprising exclusive use of Youth Music Box followed by a group music-making session with Remix’s expert music leaders. Any schools or party bookings interested in arranging a group slot from 10am until 2pm should contact Eleanor Briggs or call 0117 903 6669.

Whether you’re an accomplished musician or complete beginner come down to Colston Hall and see what you can do!

Watch videos now or have a go at the online game to create your own track.
