Book now for Early Music Workshop

Open to any musicians aged between 7 and 16

Young musicians with an interest in Early Music are encouraged to apply for places at a day-long workshop being run by sound52 – Lincolnshire Youth Music Action Zone – at Lincoln’s Bishop Grosseteste College on Tuesday August 7.

A collaborative venture between soundLINCS - Lincolnshire’s music development agency – and the Lincoln Early Music Festival, the Creative Early Music Workshop is open to any musicians aged between 7 and 16 who would like to develop original music based on early themes, instruments and techniques. The pieces created will be performed live the next day as part of the main festival programme.

Steering the workshop will be Early Music specialist Sue Addison, who recently led the BATTLE! project for soundLINCS: this brought together 120 school children with members of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and students from the Birmingham Conservatoire in a pioneering project using 15th -16th century European warfare as a context for music-making using period-style instruments, song, costume and movement.

All instruments are welcome to the workshop on August 7, though the session will also include instrument-making for those who are unable to bring their own.

The Creative Early Music Workshop will run from 10am until 4pm, and the cost for the day will be £7.50. Light refreshments will be provided, though participants should bring their own lunch.
