Youth Music Voices launch event plays host to musical theatre star Richard Meek

The Rocky Horror Picture Show star will be taking a break from the spotlight to impart some of his vocal wisdom at the very first Youth Music Voices launch event in Norwich.

Youth Music Voices is a major new project providing 14-19 year olds with the opportunity to join in and celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games through singing.

As part of the project we're hosting Youth Music Voices launch events across the country with the first taking place at The Garage in Norwich on Sunday 18 July!

Richard Meek will be joining our launch event to meet and support aspiring young singers from the Norfolk region fresh from his current role of Brad Majors in the UK touring production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Richard has also starred in a whole variety of other productions including Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Godspell.

We're loving having a star of the musical stage on board for our first Youth Music Voices launch event which could be your first step to joining Youth Music’s national singing team.

The open access workshops are the chance for 14-19 year olds to take part in a day of lively and challenging group vocal activities led by Richard Frostick (and of course ably assisted by Monsieur Meek); with opportunities to experience different styles and new repertoire. The day will culmintate in a mass informal vocal performance.

Participants will also be able to find out more about local choirs and singing groups in their area, along with performance opportunities linked to the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Check out the Youth Music Voices Launch – East page for more info.

Launch events will be taking place across the rest of the country from September 2010. We will be announcing the dates and venues very soon, but if you would like to find out more information please email youthmusicvoices@youthmusic.org.uk or call 020 7902 1060.

Whether you’re a solo singer or a superstar vocal ensemble, join us at your local Youth Music Voices launch event to find out more.
