Young Leaders empower the next generation

Make Some Noise helps young people’s musical prospects with Young Leaders Programme.

Make Some Noise, the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Youth Music Action Zone, is offering progression routes and opening doors for young musicians through its Young Leaders Programme.*

This year’s Young Leaders are musicians from Staffordshire and Stoke-On-Trent who have already been participants on Make Some Noise programmes and now want to share their skills and experiences with other young budding musicians.

Not only do the Young Leaders develop life skills but the scheme also leads to an Arts Award Level 2 Silver, which is a nationally recognised qualification.

Young Leaders were also invited to take part in last year's Youth Music Week which took place in mid-November. They joined thirty young people from two other West Midlands based Youth Music Action Zones to write and perform a song in one day. The song, ‘Music Is Power’ celebrated the positive power of music to change lives and has since received significant press interest, in particular from Kerrang Radio. Check out the song for yourself.

Make Some Noise's vision is that the lives of children and young people in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent will be significantly enhanced by high quality opportunities to make music. Since 2001, they have worked with over 15,000 children and young people to make music of many different styles with young people that face a variety of different challenges.

*The Young Leaders programme is also funded through the Cheadle Community & Learning Partnership & Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.
