Hospital Records host music industry masterclass at BME
The cream of dance music comes to the British Music Experience at the 02, London on Friday 5 March from 7.30pm- 9.30pm.
Following a highly successful industry masterclass last year, Hospital Records are back to host another, this time with Danny Byrd, John B and Emalkay.
Hosted by Radio One’s Mistajam, the artists will be imparting insider advice on music-making techniques and taking questions on how they go about creating their trademark sounds, beat programming, heavy basslines and everything else in-between.
The artists involved come with bags of experience in the dance genre and the event offers a unique chance to meet the individuals behind the music:
Danny Byrd
Danny Byrd is one of the most exciting talents within D+B. Unashamedly full fat, Byrd beats are essential in any balanced musical diet with his current anthem “Sweet Harmony” his second tune in 12 months to make it onto the Radio One playlist.
John B
Classically trained at a young age, this British superproducer has gone on to become one of the most eclectic and unique individuals working within electronic music today.
Emalkay
Birmingham dubstep producer/DJ Emalkay is one of the most exciting talents to emerge on the scene having been made The Guardian’s single of the week, racking up serious radio play and remixing the likes of Faithless, Freeland and BBE.
Mistajam
Mistajam aka Peter Dalton is a mainstay of BBC Radio One and 1xtra, and has earned his stripes as one of the most respected tastemakers in dance music. With a background on stage and screen as well as in Radio we’re confident he’ll be the best man to keep our three panelists in check.

Tickets for this event are £5 and open to all ages. For more details on purchasing tickets check out the British Music Experience website.
The British Music Experience is also a lead partner in our Sound Stage project, a programme created following a special one-off gig by rock legends Metallica at The 02. The band generously donated all of the proceeds towards creating music-making opportunities for young people in Greenwich where The 02 is based.
The project is run together with Greenwich Music Service and Greenwich Theatre and is working with fifty local young people to boost their skills, improve their prospects and the opportunities open to them.
It brings together the most successful elements from the Youth Music Mentors and Voltage programmes, demonstrating how mentoring and volunteering can bring about positive personal change and raise aspirations for young people.
