Leave a legacy

legacies

Will you leave a lasting musical legacy?
There are only a small number of musicians, including the likes of Mozart, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles who can be sure that their musical legacy will last forever.

For the rest of us, we simply hope that our love of music lives on in the memories of our nearest and dearest and all those we have shared it with – unless, that is, we choose to invest in young people - the musicians of the future.

Legacy gifts are really important to Youth Music
Every legacy gift left to Youth Music, no matter how large or small, has the potential to change a young person’s life forever.  By remembering Youth Music in your Will, you will be enabling us to use music as the tool which broadens horizons and unlocks the true potential of the children and young people we work with.

Why leave a legacy?
As the UK's leading music charity, we believe that music has the power to transform the lives of children and young people. If you do too, please consider supporting our work by leaving us a gift in your Will.

Your gift will directly support the projects and activities we deliver that focus on:
• Disadvantaged children and young people who would not otherwise get the chance to make music
• Encouraging talent and potential – whether it be in music or something else altogether – music is often the catalyst for further learning
• Improving the knowledge and skills of the music leaders who work with the young people we aim to reach
• Music for under 5s – Extensive scientific research has shown that exposure to music-making activities can help young children to develop skills in listening and concentration, communication and physical coordination, as well as laying the foundations for reading and writing

Making your Will
Once you have considered your friends and family please consider leaving a life-changing gift to Youth Music.   Remembering a charity in your Will is really simple – simply speak to your solicitor and they will advise you on how to create a valid Will and how to leave a gift to Youth Music.

If you do choose to remember Youth Music, please use our full registered name, “The National Foundation for Youth Music”, to ensure that the gift is used as you intended.

If you’d like to talk to us about leaving a legacy to Youth Music please contact the fundraising team on: 020 7902 1060, or fundraising@youthmusic.org.uk

Youth Music receives donation in memory of Nick Drake
The estate of highly acclaimed singer-songwriter Nick Drake, make a significant donation to Youth Music.

“First, I'm a frustrated musician and have never really cracked learning music. Second, and more importantly, I have been involved with a local school in a very challenging part of South West London.

I am Chair of Governors and during my 3 years doing this work I have seen first hand the crucial role that music plays for the young and sometimes troubled sectors of the community.

I see music as a common bond between different races, religions and cultures. Irrespective of language, music is the glue that binds communities together.”
