The South West, the largest of the nine English regions, is rich in culture, heritage, beautiful landscapes and coastlines, and developing urban centres. For the population, it is primarily a region of contrasts, incorporating areas of affluence and deprivation, both rural and urban.
For the region’s children, young people and music sector, there is a huge range of issues that we are committed to tackling head on. For example, barriers can be caused by rural isolation which limits choices for
young people in the South West.
One of our continuing strategies is to build on our good relationships with the local and regional arts agencies that characterise the South West, to ensure our offer to the region in the coming years is appropriate in the changing political climate and relevant to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.
