Research

In this area of the Youth Music website you can find all the up-to-date (and historical) findings of our research and evaluation activity.
Research and evaluation enables Youth Music to make informed decisions based on available evidence. Through the use of research and evaluation, we aim to understand the impact Youth Music is making at all levels, and improve the quality and effectiveness of the charity.
Research and evaluation enables Youth Music to contribute to wider debates beyond the charity and share evidence to inform the development of policy and provision. Evaluation and research also contribute to active learning for Youth Music and, through the sharing of this learning, assists those in the sector to improve how they work and make well-informed funding and delivery decisions.
The research and evaluation team (in partnership with researchers from across the sector) regularly analyse Youth Music’s work. This includes: statistical analysis of which types of young people are being reached and where; evidence reviews looking at the impact of music projects with different groups of young people; specific focused research on projects that are particularly innovative or effective; and large scale evaluations of Youth Music programmes or funding streams.
