Youth Music Initiative

New funding scheme announced by Scottish Arts Council - Apply here now

Before downloading the Application Forms and Guidelines, please read this to see whether your organisation can apply for YMI funding?

The Youth Music Initiative is funded by the Scottish Executive and is only able to accept applications for programmes to be delivered in Scotland. In order to strengthen the capacity of the informal sector in Scotland, priority for funding will be given to Scotland-based organisations.

Applications from organisations outside Scotland will only be considered where there are no suitable alternative programme providers available locally.

Organisations based outside Scotland should contact
Nicola Killean (Youth Music UK Development Officer, Scotland) in the first instance to discuss the nature of any programme they may wish to deliver in Scotland.

"The idea of funding for popular music should be seen as a positive thing. It should be seen as an investment in industry as much as an investment in culture, because popular music is something that generates as much financial revenue as it does cultural revenue."

Alex Kapranos, Franz Ferdinand (2004 Mercury Prize winners)
