Song for Youth
Song for Youth
In March 2002 Youth Music launched 'Drop in the Ocean'...

Commissioned from Tolga Kashif, who also arranged 'A Perfect Day' for the BBC, with additional words by lyricist Richard Stilgoe.

It was recorded by the New London Children's Choir at Abbey Road studios. Lesley Garrett has also been closely involved in the song - performing it at the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey in March 2002. 'Drop in the Ocean' is accompanied by a free comprehensive education pack and was supported by training for singing teachers and youth leaders.

'Drop in the Ocean' provides Youth Music with the opportunity to link with children and young people who already sing as well as to link with others for whom singing is a new experience. The song also demonstrates Youth Music's commitment to and encouragement of commissioning new repertoire for young singers.

It is a song of celebration which can be sung by people of all ages, including adults. It has already provided a platform for singing for thousands of children and young people. To date there have been over 200 performances throughout the UK and beyond.
