Moby DONATES-A-DATE to Youth Music
DAD Moby

Multi-million selling artist Moby is the latest big name to support Youth Music’s DONATE-A-DATE campaign

New York-based Moby is the latest famous musician to support Youth Music’s DONATE-A-DATE campaign. He invited young music fans to meet him exclusively backstage before a concert during the European tour to promote his latest album, ‘Hotel’.

A Youth Music competition ran on leading Scottish radio station Beat 106 to win six tickets to his Glasgow concert at the Carling Academy and meet the star backstage in his dressing room. The winners aged between 15 and 19 were able to speak to the music star, while he signed autographs and posed for pictures. Afterwards they joined the crowds in the venue to enjoy the two hour concert.

DONATE-A-DATE is a way for artists to support youth music-making in areas of social and economic need.  The campaign helps national charity Youth Music engage a wider audience of young music-makers and to raise much-needed funds for extending its remit beyond England to support music-making for young people who lack opportunity in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

MOBO Award winner, Estelle, Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child), Placebo and Sum 41 are among other artists that have supported the campaign. All DONATE-A-DATE proceeds directly benefit young people participating in Youth Music projects across the country.

Richard Utting, Head of Fundraising & Development at Youth Music, comments: "Many of the young people targeted by Youth Music are heavily influenced by urban music so we are delighted that Estelle is showing her support in this way. Meeting her in person will be an inspiring and unforgettable experience for the young people and will help us promote the educational and social benefits of music-making. We hope to see many other artists from other popular music genres endorse the work of Youth Music in the future."

DONATE-A-DATE is endorsed by the BPI, AIM and AURA.
