Brian McFadden Donates-A-Date

Former Westlife member Brian McFadden is the latest big name to support Youth Music’s DONATE-A-DATE campaign

June 2005

One fifth of one of the biggest boy bands in the world and now a solo artist in his own right, Brian is the latest famous artist to support Youth Music’s DONATE-A-DATE campaign. The lucky young fans were invited to meet him backstage at the London leg of his UK tour to promote his debut solo album 'Irish Son'.

Youth Music ran competitions with a number of partners, including hit40uk, Bliss Online, CosmoGirl and Capital Disney Radio to win tickets to his concert at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire and meet the star backstage.

Although some of the winners had been nervous about meeting Brian, the excitement of the moment soon took over and everyone was at ease chatting with him, getting t-shirts and programmes signed and posing for lots of photos with the star. Afterwards the fans enjoyed the rest of the show and everyone agreed it was a great evening!

DONATE-A-DATE is a way for artists to support youth music making in areas of social and economic need.  The campaign helps national charity Youth Music engage a wider audience of young music-makers and to raise much-needed funds for extending its remit beyond England to support music-making for young people who lack opportunity in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Multi-million selling artist Moby, MOBO Award winner, Estelle, Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child), Placebo and Sum 41 are among other artists that have supported the campaign. All DONATE-A-DATE proceeds directly benefit young people participating in Youth Music projects across the country.
