The Cre8 project was conceived to celebrated the launch of the 20th Youth Music Action Zone in England. 60 young people, aged 14-18, were brought together and divided into eight groups according to geographical location. Each group had the responsibility of writing, rehearsing and recording an original track for the album with support from some of the biggest names in contemporary British music.
The CD was launched at a star-studded bash in central London on November 12, 2003. MOBO founder Kanya King, T4 Popworld presenter, Miquita Oliver, Pop Idol judge Dr Fox and chartbuster, Darius were among the star guests in attendance.
Youth Music Action Zones are centres of creativity which bring music-making opportunities to 0-18 year olds in areas of social and economic need. Each Zone is made up of a consortium of experienced partners that link together organisations from the public, voluntary and private sector.
