Sound Learning

Sound Learning

Youth Music’s Sound Learning Pack is a cross-curricular resource providing a comprehensive set of tools to help deliver diverse lesson activities to pupils aged 7-11, across ten subject areas including Music, English, Maths and Science. The resource will help teachers bring lessons to life through music; helping pupils feel excited about their learning by adding an extra level of engagement and creating opportunities to find their strengths.

Sound Learning also encourages schools to help celebrate Youth Music’s 10th birthday and the resource includes ideas and inspiration for music-inspired events and parties. There’s also the chance to win a music workshop hosted by TV’s Fame Academy / Popshop’s David and Carrie Grant during Youth Music Week in November. Developed with practicing teachers, all activities are curriculum linked and have been designed to enhance the classroom experience through the three basic learning styles; visual, auditory, and kinesthetic.
The pack includes:

  • A Teacher Booklet featuring comprehensive notes accompanying each subject and recommendations on how to deliver the various activities. Each subject area features 2 – 3 activities designed to offer flexibility for teaching technique and pupil working opportunities; as individuals, in pairs and group work.
  • A CD Rom containing a number of downloadable resources for use within the classroom, including pupil worksheets, homework sheets, PowerPoint presentations, assembly plan and lyric sheets, along with image and music banks.
  • A Classroom poster designed to act as a visual and interactive teaching aid

The Sound Learning resource will be distributed in May 2009
