Nurture talent

Many young musicians are amazingly creative and inspiring in their music making. When they are encouraged by working with skilled musicians and given environments in which their learning can be fast tracked and their creativity can blossom, their ability to create new music and surpass all expectations is breathtaking.

But not all young people are in the position to continue their musical careers to a high level. However, Youth Music supports the development of the nation's most talented musicians.

The National Youth Music Organisations initiative funds flagships programmes that cover a range of music genres, offering specialist musical training and advanced performance opportunities. Youth Music's funding ensures that talented and committed young musicians from disadvantaged backgrounds get acccess to these amazing opportunities.

The Cultural Olympiad is a chance for the UK's most talented young musicians to perform on a global stage. By 2012, Youth Music Voices will bring together over one hundred 14 to 18 year olds from across the country to form a youth choir unlike any other in this country.

With their own style, individuality, leadership, and specially commissioned repertoire of new songs and arrangements, the young singers will be developed to the highest standard to produce vibrant and exciting music throughout the Cultural Olympiad to 2012.

"To perform is my chance to get rid of all the anger and hurt inside of me. Afterwards it's just ahhhh, I'm clean again."
